Quality Rehabilitation To Keep You Moving
Surgery places significant demands on the body. Recovery begins before you enter the operating theatre, and the quality of rehabilitation afterwards has a direct impact on how quickly and fully you return to the life you want to lead.
Overview
Surgery places significant demands on the body. Recovery begins before you enter the operating theatre, and the quality of rehabilitation afterwards has a direct impact on how quickly and fully you return to the life you want to lead.
At Physio Assist, we support patients both before and after surgery with structured, evidence-based rehabilitation tailored to each individual.
Prehabilitation — Preparing For Surgery
Prehabilitation is physiotherapy delivered in the weeks leading up to a planned procedure. Patients who are stronger and more mobile before surgery tend to recover faster afterwards. Our prehabilitation includes:
Building the muscle groups most needed during recovery.
Improving joint range of movement to support post-operative rehabilitation.
Learning to use crutches or walking aids, practising transfers.
Particularly for chest or abdominal procedures.
Ensuring patients and families are fully prepared.
Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
We provide post-surgical rehabilitation for:
Rebuilding strength and walking pattern, progressing to stairs and outdoor mobility.
Reducing swelling and stiffness, restoring range of movement and confidence.
Rotator cuff repair, shoulder replacement, and stabilisation.
Decompression, discectomy, and fusion, with careful protocol-guided progression.
Wrist, ankle, hip, and other post-operative or conservative fracture management.
Including cardiac surgery and major cancer surgery recovery.
Home-Based Surgical Rehabilitation
All of our surgical rehabilitation programmes can be delivered at home. Exercises are tailored to real furniture, real stairs, and real daily activities — not a generic clinic environment. Family members and carers are actively encouraged to be involved so they can support the patient between sessions.
No GP referral is required. Patients, families, carers, case managers, and healthcare professionals are all welcome to contact us directly. We aim to respond to all enquiries within one working day and offer an initial appointment within one week in most areas.
