Physiotherapist helping a child with a movement and coordination exercise at home

What it involves

Helping your child move, play and grow with confidence

Every child develops at their own pace, but when movement, coordination or strength seem to be lagging behind, an early, expert assessment can make a real difference. This service starts with a thorough, play-based assessment of your child's movement and development, before building a programme designed around their stage, their interests and your family's daily routine.

Sessions are kept fun and engaging — using games and activities rather than formal exercises — while working on the specific skills your child needs, from crawling and walking to balance, coordination and posture. Parents and carers are shown simple ways to support progress between visits.

  • Play-based movement and developmental assessment
  • Programmes built around your child's age and interests
  • Support with milestones, gait, balance and coordination
  • Parents and carers guided every step of the way

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GP or health visitor referral to book?

No. You can book directly with Physio Assist — no referral is needed to arrange a home visit for your child.

What age range do you see?

We work with babies, children and young people up to 18, tailoring our approach to their age, stage and interests.

Will sessions feel like "exercises" to my child?

Not usually. We work through games and play wherever possible, so your child is building movement skills without it feeling like a chore.

How much does a home visit cost?

Prices start from £X per session, with the initial assessment priced slightly higher to allow extra time. Full details are on our Pricing page.

Can you liaise with my child's school or nursery?

With your permission, we're happy to share advice with teachers, SENCOs or nursery staff so support stays consistent across your child's day.

What areas do you cover?

We cover Leeds and the surrounding West Yorkshire area. See our Areas We Cover page for the full list of towns, or get in touch to confirm your postcode.
